About me
Hello I’m John, a fully qualified and accredited integrative counsellor working with adults in the South Hams. I understand the value of counselling and offer a warm, mature and down to earth perspective. Central to how I work is establishing a trusting relationship so that you feel safe and supported to engage with whatever is troubling you and work towards positive outcomes.
How Counselling can help:
- A safe time and place to talk to someone who won’t judge you
- Opportunity to make sense of what is troubling you and understand yourself better
- Help resolve complicated feelings/emotions or find ways to accept and live with them
- Help to recognise unhelpful patterns in the way you think and act and if you wish find ways to change these.
Counselling to me is about enabling my clients to develop a state of ‘compassionate curiosity’, in essence a desire to understand more about themselves, the world they inhabit and how they relate to it.
How I work
As an integrative counsellor, I believe each client is unique and there isn’t just one therapeutic approach that can help a client in all situations. My training enables me to use elements of different approaches to help you explore and cope with what is troubling you.
How we meet can also be tailored to your preference be it face to face in a counselling space, online via Zoom or walk and talk in nature.
