About me
My experience as a counsellor began when I qualified in 2010. I have provided counselling in a variety of settings including the NHS, mental health charities and employee assistance programmes EAP. I have facilitated mental health support groups and courses in mental health charities, managed a counselling service and a team of counsellors.
Currently, alongside my private practice, I continue to work for employee assistance programmes (EAP) as an affiliate. I am registered to provide counselling for Bupa.
I'm a registered and accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy BACP. I work as an integrative counsellor, adapting my approach to meet the individual needs of each client. The foundation of my approach is Person Centred Therapy I also draw from Transactional Analysis TA and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy CBT. I can assist with a variety of issues including, but not limited to, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, domestic abuse, family conflict, relationship difficulties, bereavement, and workplace stress.
Practice Description
A free 15 minute consultation is offered to discuss needs and answer any queries prior to starting counselling. This can be arranged via Teams video or telephone.
Counselling would usually take place weekly or fortnightly, and each session will last 50 minutes. The sessions can take place in a private room in Morpeth, Northumberland or Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne, or remotely via video/telephone.
How I work
Providing a non-judgemental and confidential space to talk, I can help you to explore and find ways to cope with issues or thoughts that are that are having negative impact on your life. Counselling sessions last for 50 minutes. In terms of the number of sessions required, there is no 'one size fits all' and this will be regularly reviewed. Depending on the issues brought to counselling, some clients can feel much better after few sessions whereas some clients require more than six sessions to feel more able to cope.
Counselling Supervision
I'm a qualified counselling supervisor with a Diploma in Supervision and have experience of supervising qualified and trainee counsellors. Please click on 'Supervisor profile' for more information.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
