About me

You might be someone who’s used to coping — managing things well, being reliable, and being the person others depend on.

At some point, often during or after a life change or a period of pressure, something shifts. You may find yourself feeling overwhelmed, angry, anxious, flat, or not quite like yourself, and wondering why you can’t just handle things in the way you used to.

I offer a space to slow things down and begin to make sense of what’s happening. We work together at a pace that feels right for you, helping you to understand your thoughts, feelings, and patterns, and to feel more grounded and able to respond to life in a way that works for you.

I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, loss, and relationship difficulties, including those with a background of trauma or domestic abuse. I also have a particular interest in infertility and IVF.

My approach is grounded in warmth, compassion and respect. Therapy can be challenging at times, but also revealing and freeing. There may be tears, but there is often laughter too.

Training, qualifications & experience

Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling; Iron Mill College, Exeter

BA Modern History, University of Oxford

In addition to my professional training, my practice draws on a wealth of experience from my business career in HR, consultancy and teaching. I have worked in global corporates, SMEs and in the charity sector, and relocated several times within the UK and abroad. I founded and ran my own retail company before retraining as a counsellor.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

I am a qualified integrative therapist, meaning that I have been trained in several different counselling and psychotherapeutic approaches. These approaches include Person-Centred, Existential, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis. I work collaboratively and facilitatively with each client to create a tailored approach. Largely, our work will be through talking, but we may also work creatively or with somatics (breath and body work) and mindfulness.

I see therapy as an opportunity to unburden and unpick; to unravel those parts of your story and yourself that feel difficult. A freedom to talk about your innermost thoughts and feelings to someone with professional training, who will listen without judgment and for whose reaction you need not feel responsible. Therapy is hard but rewarding work; it can be uncomfortable but revelatory; painful but valuable. It is a serious undertaking - but it doesn’t have to be humourless. There may well be tears but there will almost certainly be laughter too. Key to it all is the strength and depth of the relationship we build between us.
