About me

Hello!

Well done on taking the first step of looking after yourself and finding time for you. Feeling stressed out, anxious, and confused what to do next?

My name is Jill, and I am a therapist specialising in Transactional Analysis, and a registered member of the BACP. I offer Individual counselling in a lovely and welcoming space in the centre of Dundee.

I have over 25 years of experience working with individuals from a variety of backgrounds whose experiences include anxiety, depression, neurodiversity including ADHD and Autism, bereavement, self-harm and I work through a trauma understanding lens. I also have significant experience of supporting children and young people and I understand the journey menopause takes women on.

Counselling and therapy can enable you to understand why you think, feel, or behave, as you do. It can help you understand how those thoughts and feelings originated and, most importantly, what you can do to change them.

At various times in our lives, we all can feel lost, or stuck and encounter challenges. In those moments the challenges can feel too big or too many to cope with. We can find ourselves feeling confused and overwhelmed and you might feel trapped in a cycle you can’t find a way out of. At times like these, friends, family or colleagues can be a support, but therapy offers the extra help we sometimes need - someone you can talk to who has the skills, experience, and training to offer an unbiased and empathic space.

Anyone's life can include experiences like loss, trauma, anxiety, stress, loneliness, relationship breakdowns, or identity struggles. These and a whole variety of other experiences, can sometimes make day to day life feel tricky. Over our lives we make many creative adjustments just to manage those feelings and sometimes these become outdated until they don’t serve us anymore– therapy can help you explore this.

I offer a nurturing session where you can be curious about your relationships with others and with yourself. My approach is about us working together to delve into and explore whatever comes up in the room, focusing on what you bring to each session. I use Transactional Analysis as my core approach, but I lean into different approaches as well, some creative ones if that feels ok for you.

I understand the pressure of time and life, and I know it can be hard to find the time and space for you. So, whilst most of my work is face-to-face in Dundee, I also offer online sessions. I offer sessions at various times and days during the week to accommodate the needs of my clients and I can generally accommodate weekly or fortnightly sessions.

I have a space in the centre of Dundee which is central for people travelling in from surrounding areas. Unfortunately, it is not access-friendly as it is in a building that has stairs and no lift.

I look forward to you getting in touch.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
