About me
I'm a counsellor and psychotherapist with over 30 years of experience in working with individual clients (18 years and over), and families with various issues, including illness, work related issues and burn out, guilt and shame, anxiety and depression, feeling unable to cope, parenting of young children and adolescent difficulties, stress, trauma, grief, suicidal ideation, LGBTQ, relationship problems and feeling stuck.
If you are currently experiencing difficulties that are affecting your life, or you just want to understand why you are feeling the way you do, then I can help you. Sometimes it's hard to pinpoint what's going on or where it all started.
I am trained in social work, counselling, psychotherapy and guided relaxation, together with lots of other training and ways of working. This combination of skills and experience allows me to match what you need as a unique individual and provide you with support so that you leave our sessions feeling like you have been helped and realising that you can do things differently.
In addition to extensive professional training, I also have a wealth of life experience that includes living abroad and growing up in a mining town. I'm approachable and down to earth, whilst using a solution-focused approach to therapy that helps you to feel that there is something to be gained from you having support and connection.
Please contact me for a free 20 minute conversation to see if we are a good fit. I can work in person or online depending on what feels more comfortable for you.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
