About me
I am a consultant clinical psychologist with over 25 years experience working in the NHS. I completed my doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2002 and since this time I have worked in various roles in mental health services and provided specialist assessment, consultation, intervention and treatment ,leadership, supervision and coaching. I see people with a range of difficulties including anxiety (stress, OCD, panic, social), low self esteem, depression, and relationship/ family difficulties, to name a few. I am particularly interested in working collaboratively with people to help understand their specific difficulties and how this impacts on their life and relationships with themselves and others.
My approach is to fully understand the person, what factors have brought them into therapy and what they would like for the future. I am open, approachable and personable and I believe the relationship with the therapist is a crucial part of the process.
I am flexible with appointments and can offer face to face and online. I am happy to offer evenings appointments to fit with your other commitments.
I am trained and experienced in a number of therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), Radically Open Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (RODBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. Throughout my experience I have always applied and adapted models according to individual need. My focus is usually relationally based, helping people to understand and change patterns that are unhelpful and contribute to distress.
I understand that the first step is the hardest but I am approachable and will ensure you feel at ease and can explore and work out your difficulties in a collaborative and friendly environment. I offer both face to face and online options.
