About me
I am a BACP‑registered integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor, offering both short and long term therapy. I work online and in person from offices in York.
My approach is grounded in respect, honesty and integrity. I will work alongside you - never telling you what to do, never judging - in a space where you can explore whatever feels important. This may be something happening in your life right now, or something rooted in earlier experiences that continues to shape how you feel and relate to others. Whatever is going on for you, therapy is a space to help you make sense of difficult emotions, explore patterns and feel empowered to make meaningful changes. Together, we approach your experiences with curiosity and compassion.
Every therapeutic relationship is unique, and as we work together we can find the best approach for you. I draw on a range of theories and methods, including Transactional Analysis, life scripts, and Attachment theory, tailoring the work to your individual needs. If helpful we may discuss these theories in relation to your situation, or we may wish to work more creatively, using models, images or meditations. At all times I prioritise your safety, wellbeing and autonomy.
I work with adults and support people on a wide range of topics, including depression, anxiety, work‑related stress, relationship difficulties, neurodivergence, family breakdown, chronic illness, bereavement, change and uncertainty, breaking unhelpful patterns, and LGBTQ+ experiences.
Training, qualifications & experience
My Post Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling from the Northern Guild is BACP and UKCP accredited.
I attend regular supervision in line with BACP guidelines, and have an enhanced DBS.
I have worked in charity mental health settings providing counselling since 2022. Alongside my private practice I also work as a counsellor for a NHS funded project specifically focussing on improving men’s mental health.
Prior to my career in counselling I worked for 10 years as a research analyst, latterly with a focus on trees and woodland.
I have an MA in Women, Conflict and Violence from University of York.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

What happens next?
I appreciate that making an enquiry as an initial step can feel daunting. Therapy is very personal and the relationship you develop with your therapist is key to ensuring you feel respected and heard, as well as safe to explore new possibilities. Building trust is important and it is essential that the therapist you chose is right for you, so feel free ask for what you need or any questions about the process in your enquiry.
Once you make an enquiry we will arrange a short phone call (up to 20 mins). This is free of charge and is an opportunity for us to have a quick chat and to discuss any queries.
If you decide to go ahead we will book in your first session. This may feel a bit uncomfortable or overwhelming but we will take it at a pace that feels right for you. In this first session we will initially discuss confidentiality before doing an assessment. This is where you’ll fill me in on why you’ve sought therapy at this time and your life in context. We will discuss what you’d like to get out of the process and I can provide options for how we might work together.
