About me

I am an experienced integrative psychotherapist and EMDR practitioner. I offer one-to-one client sessions in Clapham Junction and Clapham Common. Both venues are just a few minutes from tube / rail stations. I also offer a full range of online counselling services including via email, SMS text messaging and Skype / Whatsapp.  I can offer you a tailored package of client sessions that suits your needs. My focus is on supporting each client to achieve what they hope for in life.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have an MSc Therapeutic Counselling (with Distinction, from a BACP accredited course) and am certificated in Online Counselling.  I am also a registered EMDR practitioner. I am experienced in working with clients from diverse backgrounds.  I have particular expertise in supporting clients with long term health conditions and those suffering from losses, anxiety and traumas including bereavement.

I was previously a journalist including as a BBC Producer and as former Editor of the international journal Bereavement Care.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Additional information

Visit my website at www.thegoldfinchpractice.com to see my hourly rates for face to face, EMDR and online sessions. During the difficult time we are all facing I remain open to seeing clients online and in person and I am happy to discuss significantly reduced rates for those whose finances are difficult.

I can offer clients sessions in the daytime or evenings between 7.30am-9pm. I also offer full online services up until 9pm.

Further information

I believe in psychotherapy because it helped me to change my life.  I can offer you understanding and non-judgmental support while you work through the challenges you are facing.  I can offer you a safe, confidential space to raise issues and feelings that are difficult to share with others who are close to you. Therapy does not need to take a long time and it does not mean you have to start by talking about your childhood.  We can work on what is on your mind now and focus on what you feel is most important.

Key details

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

The building is accessible by a ramp and there is a lift to the floor where my room is located.
