I am an Integrative Counsellor offering one to one counselling to adults in a safe, non-judgemental space. I offer both short and long term counselling to individuals.
Sometimes we can reach a point in our lives when coping strategies that have served us well in the past, no longer help us through difficult times. This can lead to frustration, confusion, anger, and a sense of unsettledness or stuckness. Counselling can help.
I offer an open and safe space where we can explore what is going on for you in your life. By working from a place of compassion I aim to build a supportive and grounding relationship with you hoping that you gain the support that you can use to enable choice in your life. I believe that your own experience of self is paramount and as such it is my commitment to respect that, and offer you insight and perspective.
My practice is based at the Enso Treatment Rooms.
I practice in accordance with the BACP ethical framework.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified and experienced Integrative Counsellor. I trained with City of Bristol College to gain my Professional Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and Certificate in Counselling Skills.
Being an Integrative Counsellor means that while I work in a person-centred way, I also draw on other approaches to inform my work with you (for example Gestalt, Transactional Analysis and Psychodynamic). I acknowledge that each individual is very different and therefore what works for one person will not work for all.
As part of my training I have had my own personal therapy. I know how difficult it can be to make the move from thinking about counselling to making the decision to look for a therapist, to finding the right one. I also know how beneficial making the decision to look for and get that support can be, both from the work undertaken, results with my own counselling clients and with my own personal therapy sessions.
I am a part of the Counselling Department teaching team at the City of Bristol College, where I teach Level 2 Counselling Skills and I have worked in various locations/agencies on a voluntary basis including Low Cost Counselling, a Bristol based organisation that offers truly low cost therapy to those who would otherwise be unable to afford or access it; and I have worked in a Bristol secondary school, working with 11-16yr olds in the School's own Counselling Service.
I am a Registered Member of the BACP.
