About me
Before I trained as a therapist, I was parenting a child impacted by developmental trauma. I know first-hand how overwhelming it can feel when behaviours are misunderstood and the support system doesn’t seem to “get it.”
For over 20 years I’ve been alongside children and families who feel overwhelmed and unheard. What looks like “difficult behaviour” is often fear, sadness, and unmet needs — sometimes in both the child and the parent. I call these the “muddles and wobbles”- and I know that they can shake the whole family.
I help children make sense of their big experiences and feelings so that behaviour becomes easier to manage and life feels calmer. I am trained in:
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing)
CATT (Children’s Accelerated Trauma Treatment)
The Rewind Technique
These approaches reduce the impact of trauma and help children feel safer, more confident and connected. With children under 12, I believe it’s essential that parents/carers are part of the process, so they can support the therapy at home.
I also support parents who are:
Coping with secondary trauma
Wanting to learn therapeutic parenting strategies
Seeking support either alongside their child’s therapy, or independently
Therapy For Adults
I also offer therapy for adults, with a focus on EMDR. This can be short- or long-term, and is effective for:
Single incident trauma
Complex or childhood trauma
Anxiety, phobias and depression
Difficult memories can sometimes feel as though they are still happening in the present. EMDR helps the brain reprocess these memories so that they move into the past — leaving them feeling less overwhelming and easier to live with.
I work in person from my therapy room in Leighton Buzzard, using approaches such as sand tray, storytelling and play. I also offer online EMDR sessions for adults.
If you or your child are feeling overwhelmed, I can offer a safe and supportive space to begin untangling the “muddles and wobbles.” Together, we can work towards calmer, more connected relationships and a greater sense of wellbeing.
