About me

Hello, my name is Jen,

Thank you for visiting my profile whilst on your search for a suitable therapist who feels like the right fit for you.

Here is some information about who I am and how I practice as a Person-centred Counsellor and Psychotherapist.

I run my own private practice named Clear Skies Counselling. I am a fully qualified person-centred therapist BA (Hons) and a MSc Psychology student.

I have experience in counselling children, young people, and adults. I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), the Hampshire Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (HACP), and a member of the British Infertility Counselling Association (BICA). By being a member of these associations, I am able to practice safely under their guidelines, and this keeps my practice safe and up to date. I have indemnity insurance, which allows me to practice as a therapist safely for the benefit of my clients as well as myself. I am DBS checked.

I am offering a safe, welcoming, and non-judgemental space for my clients to really explore what is going on for them internally, and in a way they are less likely to be able to do so within their daily lives. The world is a busy and fast-moving place, and it is so easy to lose our train of thought and direction in life, and therefore internalise emotions and fears. This can then bring struggle for a person, making it challenging to be able to deal with emotions in a safe way.

The therapy I provide can help to navigate my clients' own way to where they feel they want to be by facilitating a safe space and to be able to do this at a pace which is manageable and right for them. "The client is the expert of themselves" (Carl Rogers), and therapy is simply a tool in which they can use to help find themselves again.

I am currently offering face to face sessions, online counselling via Zoom, Skype, WhatsApp, or FaceTime, and telephone counselling. I also offer home visits, which is dependent on geographical location.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a BA (Hons) degree in Person-Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy and run my very own private practice, Clear Skies Counselling. I am currently a Psychology student undertaking an MSc in psychology conversion, with a keen focus on trauma responses and ADHD.

I have been working as a school counsellor at an independent school since January 2022 with children from 7-13 years of age.

I have experience working with those struggling with infertility, where my journey originally began at Complete Fertility in Southampton. I have since continued to work with clients affected by infertility in private practice.

I have experience working with both adults and children, as well as having my own personal experience with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

Level 2 certificate in Supporting Learning Difficulties completed in April 2025.

Level 2 certificate in Children’s Mental Health completed in April 2023.

I have volunteered for Life Changes counselling and for Solent NHS children and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) with over 2 years experience in volunteering within these two posts from 2017-2019.

I am fully qualified in couples counselling from a BACP-accredited course.

I have worked for the NHS and the private sector in health care for over 10 years prior to qualifying as a counsellor and psychotherapist, working in care-giving and therapy roles.

I originally trained in child care and obtained a diploma before working in health care for the NHS (2010).

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
