I am the Director of private practice, Clear Skies Counselling Ltd.
I am a fully qualified Person-Centred Therapist (dipHE) with experience in counselling children, young people and adults. I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), the Hampshire Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (HACP) and a member of The British infertility counselling association (BICA). By being a member of these associations, I am able to practice safely under their guidelines and this keeps my practice safe and up to date. I have indemnity insurance which allows me to practice as a therapist safely for the benefit of my clients as well as myself, the therapist.
I am offering a safe, welcoming and non-judgemental space for my clients to really explore what is going on for them internally, in a way they are less likely to be able to do this at home. The world is a busy and fast moving place and it is so easy to lose our trail of thought, direction in life and therefore internalise emotions and fears and then struggle to be able to deal with them in a safe way.
The therapy I provide can help to navigate my clients own way to where they feel they want/need to be, by facilitating a safe space to be able to do this at a pace which is manageable and right for them. "The client is the expert of themselves" (C.Rogers) and therapy is simply a tool, in which they can use to help find themselves again.
Due to COVID-19 I am unable to offer 1:1, face to face therapy or home visits which I'd usually be able to before the pandemic outbreak, so currently only offering; online counselling via zoom, Skype, WhatsApp or Facetime and telephone counselling.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am trained to DipHE level in Person-Centred Counselling.
I am also a Director and Counsellor of my own private practice and limited company, Clear Skies Counselling Ltd.
I am also a Volunteer for Life Changes counselling and for Solent NHS children and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS).
I have worked for the NHS and private sector in health care for over 10 years in care giving roles, as a health care assistant and most recently a Therapy Instructor.
I originally trained in Child Care and obtained a diploma before working in health care for the NHS.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
