About me

About Me
You might be feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply ready for change but not sure where to start. Whatever’s brought you here, you deserve a safe, understanding space to talk and be heard.

I’m Jenny, a warm, grounded and thoughtful counsellor offering a relaxed but effective space to help you explore what’s going on and support you to feel better and cope better. My approach is compassionate, professional, and always centred around you.

I believe counselling should feel like a calm, respectful conversation where you can make sense of your thoughts and emotions and start to reconnect with yourself. Clients describe me as easy to talk to, kind, and understanding - qualities I value deeply in this work.

How I Work
I’m an integrative counsellor, which means I draw on different therapeutic approaches depending on what feels most helpful for you. At the heart of my work is a person-centred approach which helps you trust your own inner strength and wisdom, whilst incorporating other approaches to deepen insight, build awareness, and develop ways to manage emotions and daily challenges.

My aim is to help you understand yourself more fully, recognise reasons and patterns that may be holding you back, and find realistic ways to move forward with greater clarity and confidence.

I provide a space to help you make sense of your experiences, understand your responses, and find practical ways to cope and nurture yourself.

Areas I Work With
I work with adults and young people (15+) and offer support with a wide range of issues, including but not exclusive:

-Trauma (past or recent)

-ADHD and emotional regulation

-Stress, worry and anxiety

-Low mood and depression

-Self-esteem and confidence

-Relationship, family and friendship issues

-Work-related stress

-Grief, bereavement and loss

-Abuse and narcissistic relationships

-Neurodiversity

I have a wide range of professional interests, but if I were to pick, then my particular interests are trauma, no matter how small, and ADHD, and how these can affect emotional wellbeing, relationships and self-esteem.

Sessions
I offer a free 15 - 20 minute introductory call (by phone or online) so we can meet and see if it feels right to work together. Sessions last one hour and are available:

-In person in Sale, Greater Manchester

-Online or by phone (for anyone, anywhere)

-Walk-and-talk sessions (weather and access permitting)

Booking confirmations and reminders are provided, which clients often find especially helpful, particularly those managing ADHD or busy schedules.

If You’re Unsure About Counselling
It’s completely normal to feel hesitant. You may wonder whether counselling is for you, or feel you should be able to manage on your own. You don’t have to go through things alone. Having a space that’s just for you can make a real difference. Some even use it for personal development space to work with whatever has recently come up. You’re welcome to start with a chat or one session and see how it feels, there’s no long-term commitment.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

My counselling business name is Unity Therapies, chosen as Unity means being united as a whole which I see as matching the holistic 'whole body' approach to mental wellbeing. It has other connected meanings including a oneness of mind; working together; peace in the presence of conflict and another I love is that there is strength in unity.

I have also created an acronym from UNITY to help explain my work: (Creating) Understanding and Nurturing Insight to Trust Yourself.
