About me
My name is Jenny and I provide counselling in the Lichfield area.
I offer a safe, caring and understanding space where you can feel comfortable enough to share your deepest concerns. I am very passionate about my work.
I am a down to earth person meaning our space would be free of judgement, knowing that I will ‘ just get it’! I've known trauma. I've carried shame, I've been through tough times and I can help others do the same.
I am a qualified counsellor but firstly and most importantly, I am ‘human’! I am not someone who sits in silence scribbling on a clipboard and I'm not someone who's got it all sorted. Life has a way of humbling us when it’s our turn to face difficulties and I can certainly relate to this.
My approach and ethos is that the essence of successful counselling initially is the relationship between the counsellor and client. This connection hopefully, will build the trust needed for transformation and healing.
I am here to meet you where you are, listen with empathy and work together to find a way that is authentic to you. I do not offer advice, just a space to be your true self. You don’t need to have it all figured out, you may not even know where to start, that’s ok, we’ll do it together.
I am a Person Centred therapist who also works intergratively to support and adapt individual needs. However, this is just a fancy way of saying I tailor therapy to you and what you need! I will sit with you in the hard stuff, because healing doesn't look the same for everyone.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have experience working with a range of challenges from anxiety, stress, bereavement, trauma, loss, eating disorders, neurodiversity and self-esteem concerns. I spent 12 months working with a charity that supports victims of domestic abuse, which was very humbling.
Before training as a counsellor, my background involved a BA ( Hons) degree in Early Childhood Studies which led me in the direction of working therapeutically with abused and traumatised children and young adults. I have worked with neurodivergent children and young adults and neurodivergence is something I am very familiar with in my personal life. I later trained as a teacher, completing an early years PGCE and taught for 10 years. As I have matured and have faced my own challenges in life, I have found myself drawn back to really wanting to support others through their difficulties. I feel now with more life experience, this is something that comes naturally to me.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
Beyond the fancy jargon and qualifications, I am also a Mum, wife, daughter, sister, aunty, friend and someone who has dealt with overwhelm, the not so good days and definitely the emotional ups and downs of life. Therapy made a difference in my life and I’m here to genuinely support others. I love the outdoors, walking my dog and peaceful moments getting lost in my garden. I love running and keeping fit and spending time with my friends, enjoying lovely food. I’m a proud Mum and wife and am grateful for precious family time. There are no expectations, just a space at your own pace. I offer face to face counselling in a garden summer house where I live. I live in beautiful surroundings which is very peaceful. The space is private and separate to my home, where confidentiality is a priority.
You may just be grappling with issues that just make you feel ‘stuck’ , you may be unsure and just trying to make sense of life.
You're not too much
You're not broken and no, you don't just 'have to get over it'.
You deserve to feel safe and seen.
My clients would describe our work as real, honest, challenging and healing. We laugh, we explore, we do the hard stuff that sometimes feels possible!
Whatever has brought you here, I’m glad you may be considering reaching out.
