About me

Hello, I'm Jenny. If you find yourself here, you're likely navigating a tough time, and I want you to know that you are not alone in this journey. By the time we come to look for a therapist, we have usually tried many different ways to address our difficulties or get support for ourselves. Talking to friends and family can be challenging when we feel overwhelmed, stuck or lost. This is where therapy can help.

Choosing a therapist can be scary, but the most crucial aspect is finding someone you can trust and feel comfortable talking to. I strive to create a warm and compassionate environment tailored to your needs. Together, we can work through your challenges and work towards finding solutions.

My aims

Therapy could be your first step towards receiving supportive and practical professional help. As your therapist, my goal is to help you navigate through change, understand and manage your depression, anxiety, stress, and complex emotions, and guide you on a journey back to your true self. We'll work on building healthy boundaries, fostering positive relationships, improving communication, and discovering a sense of calm amidst the chaos.

I understand that opening up can be an intimidating experience. To help ease this process, I bring warmth, honesty, and sometimes a touch of humour to our sessions, making our conversations feel more like a conversation rather than a clinical procedure.

What I offer

You will find a compassionate and confidential space in which to feel comfortable during our sessions. We can engage through conversation, creative activities, somatic bodywork, and goal-setting to foster positive change in your life. I listen deeply, giving you the time and space to process your feelings, grieve losses, and accept the journey ahead or plan for necessary changes.

I provide general counselling and psychotherapy services to support individuals facing mental and emotional health challenges, including grief, anxiety, depression, low mood, self-esteem issues, relationship difficulties, and other emotional struggles.

Specialist services

I also specialise in working with neurodivergent individuals, including those with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other differences. And I work with trauma, helping those affected by trauma, domestic abuse, and sexual assault, as well as working with birth trauma.

Sessions

Finding the right therapist can be a vital step towards feeling better. In our initial introductory assessment session, we will have an informal conversation to get to know one another, discuss your concerns, and determine if I am the right fit for you. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions; I'm here to help you feel at ease.

I hope this profile gives you enough information for now. Please look around my website by clicking the link above. Or, if you'd like a chat, we can set up your initial introductory session.

Best of luck finding a therapist, Jenny.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified person-centred therapist with specialised ongoing creative and trauma training. I'm registered with the BACP, and I follow their ethical framework.

Alongside my private practice, I am employed as a therapist at a college, working with teenagers and adults.

Before my psychotherapeutic training, I worked in mental health, for domestic abuse and disability charities and in social housing and the NHS.

I continue to undertake training and personal therapy as part of my ongoing commitment to self-development. My experiences as a client influence my learning on a personal and professional level.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
