About me

I help those struggling with the feelings, symptoms and behaviours which are undermining their enjoyment of life; and also those who simply want to better understand what makes them ‘tick’.  Maybe you are feeling anxious, experiencing low mood, or are repeating patterns of behaviour or relationship which are causing you discomfort or frustration.  Or perhaps you are sensing a disconnection from yourself, others, or the life -that you know in your heart- would make you happier?  If so, then I am here to help and support you in making the changes that you need. Together we can untangle why you are relating or behaving in certain ways, consider healthier options, and so produce different outcomes. With better choices and self care, you can reduce poor coping mechanisms and the symptoms of distress.

I have a particularly interest in working with people dealing with:

• Anxiety, in it's many forms

• Relationships

• Identity/Self esteem

As an Integrative therapist, I use my counselling skills to meet your specific needs. If, for instance, you feel plagued by stress, then we would look at the areas of life in which it is manifesting, when it is most obvious, your present coping methods, and any historical influences currently operating. I have great faith in the counselling process and have seen first hand how it can help people overcome their problems, unlock their true potential, and lead a better and more joyful life. You are worth the investment!

What you can expect from counselling

You can talk to someone who is listening to you carefully; who understands how difficult life can be, and perhaps how immovable these problems seem,  Sometimes it is better to talk to someone who is not one of the family, or a friend either. We would talk in private, examining and discussing your difficulties without judgement. Through getting to understand how you are operating in life, and also how you are relating to myself and others, we can form an understanding of your patterns of behaviour, and their source. With a clearer view of yourself, you can start to make choices which are preferable and kinder to you, and I will help you build the strength to start new ways of living and being.

Counselling can give you a greater sense of who you are, how you connect with yourself and others, manage behaviours, and create meaningful change in your life.

If you have had enough of your struggles and distress and decide to get in touch, we would arrange the first session (without any obligation to continue), when we would discuss what is concerning you, what you would like to get out of therapy, and the basics of the counselling process.

I really want people to live their lives as well and as happily as possible, and feel for those struggling to do so. If you are ready to make the changes, then I am here to help you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
