Jennifer Burn. MBACP. Dip Couns. BA (Hons)
Hildreth Street Mews
Hello, I am a qualified Therapeutic Counsellor, and I help those struggling with the emotional and psychological problems which undermine their enjoyment of life. I can help you make sense of your world, feel for the unique struggling human being within, and support you in living your life more fully and authentically. Although counselling may seem daunting to the client at first, it can be a very effective way of helping people deal with their difficulties, and also unlock their true potential.
You (What you can expect from counselling)
You can talk to someone who is listening to you carefully and non-judgementally. We can examine and discuss your problems, and, through working relationally with you, I can help you get a greater sense of who you are, and how you connect with others. From this point I can help you understand how your particular difficulties have come about, and together we can consider possibilities for meaningful change in your life. Sometimes more creative processes are used if you are agreeable to this way of working.
How I work
The style of counselling used is termed ‘Integrative’ which draws upon a range of theories to better fit the person sitting with me. The counselling room is a safe and private space for you to reflect and explore your problems, with someone you can trust, who is not one of the family, or a friend either. I will help you be yourself, and connect with that which is more than the self.
What happens next
If you have had enough of your struggles and distress and decide to get in touch, we would arrange a first session when we would assess if we could work together (without any obligation to continue). We would discuss what is concerning you, what you want to get out of counselling, and the basics of the counselling process.
If you are ready, then I am here to help you.
