I am also experienced in EAP ; short term Counselling where I work with many employees to deal with issues affecting them at work , work life balance, work relationships and communication and regaining lost confidence due to absence.I welcome enquiries from employers( references available) and also those of you in employment and facing difficulties.
Over my eighteen years in practice, I have come to value an integrative approach where I draw Transactional Analysis, Person centred, CBT, ACT, Gestalt, Compassion therapy , communication skills and Mindfullness depending on your issue and needs as an individual or couple.
If I work with you as a couple will work with you to increase your awareness of how difficulties between you arise and make changes to support you as a couple. More About Me
I have a background in finance and teaching and have many part time jobs as needs must, starting when I was 13 with a paper round and also included cleaning and door to door sales to name but a few
I have faced the challenges of changing jobs and career and have experience of working in a high pressured work environment. I have a family with two grown up children and now grandchildren. I have experience of juggling work and caring for my family . I have had to deal with loss from from a young age when I lost contact with my mother and was moved area to live with my paternal family. Several years ago I supported my father throughout a long terminal illness and experienced conflicting thoughts and feelings at the painful loss of such a significant relationship.
I have also managed the challenge of separation, divorce and challenging readjustment as a single person. I am now into a new long term relationship.
I studied for my English degree and trained to teach while my children were young. I enjoyed and valued my work, empowering my pupils through academic learning. I also became increasingly aware of how I could make a difference to motivation, learning and well being by the way I related and communicated and over time I made the transition and successful career change to a Counsellor and Psychotherapist . I now use my life experience, training and my ongoing commitment to my own personal and professional development to help Adult individuals and Couples to learn about themselves and make personal and professional improvements for themselves.
Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
