About me
Hello.. and welcome...
Well done for taking this first step and thank you for reading details here. There are many therapists and finding the right person and approach is important.
I offer a free 15 minute phone or Zoom call to discuss your needs before we commit to a first full session. You don't have to decide straight after we speak . You can go away to reflect and get back to me if you want to continue.
I am an BACP fully Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist with 20 years of experience with Individuals and Couples over 18 years of age .I believe passionately in the power of therapy and counselling and offer my dedication, professional and personal experience to support you.
I aim to provide a confidential, non- judge mental and supportive space to support you as an individual or as a couple .No problems are too small or big.
You are not on your own if you feel unhappy but are unsure what you need or want . I will work with you initially to explore areas for change.
I am experienced in dealing with a wide range of issues including personal and professional difficulties, relationship issues, generalised and acute anxiety, depression, anger management and other issues( please see list below).
I have come to value an integrative approach to my work, drawing on the rich variety of Transactional Analysis (TA) ,Person Centred, CBT, ACT, Acceptance Compassion and Commitment therapy (ACT) , communication skills and Mindfulness , thought observation challenge and distancing , breath and relaxation and stress management to tailor make an approach to help in the most respectful and effective way. I also integrate Imago therapy in my work with Couples.
If I do work with you as a couple we will work to increase your awareness of how and what difficulties between you arise and freeing up patterns of relating that keeps you stuck .I will identify your strengths as a couple and how you would like your relationship to be .I will facilitate communication and understanding of thoughts and feelings that help rather than hinder your relationship and make changes .
I am also experienced in EAP ; short term Counselling where I work with many employees to deal with issues affecting them personally and professionally.
Do contact me with no obligation . As above I offer a free 15 minute call after which you can get back to me later if you want to book an initial full paid session.
Warm Regards
Janet

More About Me
I have a background in finance and teaching then trained for my current role as Counsellor and Psycotherapist.
I have faced the challenge of moving back into the full time job market after some years at home bringing my children up whilst doing part time work .I have experienced the challenge of changing jobs and career . I have experience of working in high pressured work environment in finance and then in Education as a teacher environment. I have a family with two grown up children and now grandchildren. I have experience of juggling work and caring for my family . I loved the experience of guiding people to learn; commited to my own personal development and re trained as a therapist where I enjoy helping people to understand about their own difficulties ; identify positive and relevant change for them and support them in those changes. h
I have had to deal with loss and challenge from a young age when I lost contact with my mother and older sibling, friends and roots when I moved areas to live with my paternal family.
Several years ago I supported my father throughout a long terminal illness and experienced conflicting thoughts and feelings at the loss of such a significant relationship.
I have also managed the challenge of separation, divorce and a very challenging readjustment .
I studied for my English degree and trained to teach while my children were young. I enjoyed and valued my work, empowering my pupils through academic learning. I also became increasingly aware of how I could make a difference to motivation, learning and well being by the way I related and communicated and over time I made the transition and successful career change to a Counsellor and Psychotherapist . I now use my life experience, training and my ongoing commitment to my own personal and professional development to help Adult individuals and Couples to learn about themselves and make personal and professional improvements for themselves.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
