About me
Hello, I’m Jane, a person-centred counsellor dedicated to helping you feel heard, understood, and supported as you navigate life’s challenges.
I work with adults and young people who feel stuck in anxiety, low mood, or depression, and who long to understand themselves better. Many of my clients come to counselling feeling exhausted from people-pleasing, struggling to set boundaries, and disconnected from the life they truly want to live.
I want you to know that I’ve been there too. I understand how overwhelming it can feel when anxiety or low self-esteem takes over, or when you’re constantly putting everyone else first. I also understand that many people come to counselling because they want to heal from past experiences that still affect how they feel about themselves or their lives today. My own experiences have shaped my belief that change and healing are possible, and that you deserve a life aligned with your own values and needs.
My approach is warm, gentle, and non-judgemental. Together, we’ll explore what’s happening beneath the surface of your thoughts and feelings, so you can gain clarity, build self-compassion, and start making choices that feel right for you.
I believe you deserve a life where you feel confident prioritising yourself without guilt — a life where your boundaries are respected, and where you can live authentically instead of feeling trapped by expectations.
I hold a BSc (Hons) in Counselling, including specialist training in counselling young people and supporting relationship issues. I offer flexible online sessions, including evenings and weekends, to fit around busy lives.
If you’re ready to begin your journey toward greater self-understanding, healing, and freedom, I’d love to hear from you. Please feel free to email me at rubyarenacounselling@gmail.com.
How can counselling help?
Talking through your concerns in a safe, non-judgmental and understanding space can help reduce anxiety and low mood, increase self-esteem and confidence, support you in managing anger, setting healthy boundaries, improving communication in relationships, and deepening your understanding of yourself and your behaviours, all of which can lead to greater clarity and lasting change. Through our work together, I can help you learn to trust your own opinions, validate yourself, and feel more confident in making choices that align with who you truly are. The goal is to help you live more authentically and feel empowered in your life.
How will I support you?
I will support you in a person-centred (client-led) approach to therapy, which means I prioritise your unique experiences and perspective. My goal is to create a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental space where you can comfortably share your thoughts, feelings, and concerns. I believe that you have a deep understanding of your own life and what causes you pain, which means you hold the keys to your healing process.
What should I expect in the first session?
Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and begin building a safe, trusting relationship. There’s no pressure to share anything you’re not ready to, we’ll go at your pace.
We’ll talk about what’s brought you to counselling, what you’d like support with, and what you hope to get out of our work together. I’ll also explain how I work, answer any questions you have, and go over important information like confidentiality and safeguarding.
The focus of this session is simply to help you feel comfortable and supported. It’s completely normal to feel nervous or unsure, I’ll do my best to help you feel at ease.
What will the following sessions look like?
In our sessions, you'll find my approach to be warm and respectful. I strive to build a trusting relationship that encourages open dialogue and vulnerability. Together, we will work to cultivate empowerment, enhance self-awareness, and develop insight into your experiences. This process is collaborative, and I am here to support you every step of the way.
I understand that seeking a more fulfilling and happier life requires bravery, as it often involves addressing difficult emotions and stepping outside of your comfort zone. If you feel ready to take that significant step toward change, I am here to guide you and provide the support you need on your journey toward healing and personal growth.
How do I take the next step?
When you feel ready to take the next step, please Email or call me on 07854 230444 - I'll be here.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
