About me

I am a compassionate integrative counsellor, trained psychodynamically, who consistently provides a safe and supportive therapeutic environment where my clients feel comfortable sharing their innermost thoughts and feelings. By maintaining an empathic, trauma-informed stance, I create a space where clients can feel held. My approach encourages my clients to explore areas of concern to help them achieve their goals. Psychodynamic therapy involves examining an individual’s past, determining how it may be repeating itself in the present, and helping them make positive changes into the future. By bringing unconscious thoughts and feelings into conscious awareness, clients can learn to better understand themselves. I have experience working in residential rehabilitation facilities for addiction and my specialist area is working with individuals who have been in treatment for addiction to support their recovery long-term. Each client is a special and unique individual, so my approach to therapy is customized and adjusted to suit the individual’s needs. Feel free to email me to set up an assessment session, or check out my website for more information.

Training, qualifications & experience

I moved to London to further my education in counselling and psychotherapy. In my native Canada, I am a certified addiction counsellor and I have worked with clients in residential addiction rehabilitations facilities as part of a multidisciplinary team. My specialist area is working with individuals who have been in treatment for addiction to support their recovery long-term. I have a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master's degree in psychodynamic counselling and psychotherapy. I use my skills and experience to help people understand the processes underlying their mental health concerns. I enjoy working with a diverse range of clients, and I often support those experiencing addictions, depression, and anxiety. I am a registered member of the BACP, and I also have a background in CBT and interpersonal psychotherapy from my previous education. I have experience working within the NHS, for charity organizations and private clinics in London, and in private practice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
