About me
Hello and welcome to my profile. My name is James.
I am a qualified BACP psychotherapist, completing my MSc in psychotherapeutic counselling from the University of Staffordshire.
My therapeutic approach
You don't need a specific or clear reason to seek therapy, it could be a general feeling or low mood, whatever your experience may be. The beginning can be a daunting step. I hope to make that process as smooth and calm as possible, giving you room to go at your own pace.
I offer an integrative form of therapy, following a pluralistic framework. This means I like to collaboratively use many theories and modalities to best support your growth and journey. This includes, but is not limited to, theories such as Attachment, Psychodynamic, Person-Centered, Systemic, and Cognitive Behavioural therapy (CBT).
My aim is to offer a positive, confidential space that makes you feel safe and secure, listened to, and not judged. In my practice, you are an expert in your experience.
My Journey
My beginnings come from my own curiosity in who we are as humans through psychology and science, and my own experiences and journey in personal therapy. Inspiring me to train as a psychotherapist and help others in their own growth and change.
I have an interest in the Existential, Compassionate and Narrative ways of therapy, with my own philosophy being centered around looking at the whole person and human, not a problem to be fixed.
What does psychotherapy look like?
This is decided by you, and can be over long-term or short. As a collaborative process, my role in the therapeutic relationship is to respect your own autonomy and experience, whilst being there to listen and explore your process, helping to uncover any topics you bring.
I am passionate about providing an empathetic, non-judgemental space, welcoming all.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
