About me

I am an integrative counsellor offering online counselling for adults.

I am interested in people and in the complexity of how we experience ourselves, our relationships and the world around us. I do not understand thoughts, feelings or behaviours in isolation; they belong to a life shaped by history, relationships, identity, circumstances and the wider social world.

I do not see a person as a problem to be fixed. You may come to counselling with something particular that you want to explore, or you may only know that something feels difficult, stuck or unresolved. You do not need to arrive with a clear explanation of what is happening or an idea of what needs to change.

I believe counselling can have value without that value needing to be defined in advance or measured only by a particular outcome. What matters, what becomes possible and what the experience means will be different for each person. I approach the work with curiosity, patience and respect for your autonomy, while remaining open to uncertainty and to the different ways we might understand what you bring.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Integrative Counselling. I work relationally and do not see a person as a problem to be fixed. I understand counselling as a shared process, shaped by the relationship and responsive to the individual, rather than as a method applied to them.

My experience includes counselling adults from a wide range of backgrounds and circumstances. People have brought concerns that may be recent or long-standing, clearly understood or difficult to put into words. This has included both short-term and open-ended counselling, making space for immediate concerns as well as those that may feel more complex or deeply rooted.

My continuing professional development reflects particular interests in trauma, sexual violence and the barriers people may face in speaking about their experiences, alongside existential questions of meaning, choice, freedom and responsibility. I see learning as an ongoing part of being a counsellor, shaped by further training, reflection and supervision.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
