A Step-By-Step Guide - How do I access this counselling service?
1. Request a FREE 15 MINUTE CONSULTATION. Complete the online form on the 'contact page' by providing your contact details and a brief message, alternatively contact can be made directly via email to contact@adultcounsellingtherapy.co.uk. We will then make arrangements and have our call.
2. I will send you a registration form for completion and return. The reason for this is so I am able to look after your welfare from the very outset (see 'Privacy and Confidentiality' page for further details on data management).
3. I will contact you. I will offer you a regular date and time for your sessions and send you a contract (working agreement). I will keep your details safe as per the policy (See 'Privacy and Confidentiality' page).
4. How to Pay - The fee is payable at the start of each session - Please note - Adult Counselling Therapy Ltd has a NO CASH policy. Please make payment via the card machine at the therapy room, or I can send an online link via email if your sessions are online. I can provide an invoice for your records upon request.
5. I will then hold a session with you at the practice room or I will make contact with you at our agreed date and time via video call. The first session will include a review of the contract and I will ask you to complete a brief overview assessment form (Core10) which helps me further assess the current difficulties you are experiencing.
6. Cancellations or missed appointments - if you wish to cancel an appointment, please allow a minimum of 24 hours notice otherwise the session fee will still be charged. If you miss two consecutive sessions and do not make contact, I will assume you no longer wish to continue therapy and I will make your time slot available to another client.
I hope this provides a clear guide of what to expect. Please send a message with any questions.
Best wishes
James

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
