About me

Getting started

Taking the first step into therapy can feel like a big decision. If you are curious about whether my way of working might be helpful for you, you are welcome to get in touch for an introductory conversation.

This offers an opportunity to talk about what brings you to therapy, ask any questions you may have, and see whether working together feels right for you.

Introductory sessions can be arranged online or by phone.

Psychodynamic counselling isn’t about quick fixes, trendy tools, or step-by-step guides. It’s a deep, thoughtful exploration of your inner world, your thoughts, emotions, and the patterns that quietly shape your life and relationships. Call me to find out more. Individuals or couples welcome.

In our sessions, you’ll find a space to share your story, reflect on how your past influences your present, and nurture emotional growth that can lead to real, lasting change.

It’s completely natural to feel uncertain when faced with all the approaches and techniques listed on counselling directories. A decisive factor for effective therapy is the working relationship we build together. One size never fits all. Moments may feel challenging and even uncomfortable, but for many, the results are profound and enduring. Therapy moves at your pace, offering a space to be curious, supported, and truly understood.

I work alongside clients navigating depression, anxiety, grief, relationship difficulties, identity questions, trauma, parenting challenges, disordered eating, and body image concerns.

You won’t be given homework, instructions, or generic advice. Instead, I’ll provide an environment where you can explore openly, feel heard, and be understood without judgement. Together, we’ll look at the connections between your past and present and work toward growth, often beginning with acceptance of where you are right now.

Sessions are open-ended to give you the time you need. You are free to talk about whatever is on your mind. We will reflect on your experiences, including what it feels like to be in the counselling room, because even that can hold valuable insights. Short-term work is also available, and we can discuss it during your introductory session, which can be held online or by phone.

I welcome couples to work with me as a qualified couples therapist, offering a thoughtful, supportive space to explore relationship difficulties and develop more fulfilling ways of connecting. Couples seek therapy for many reasons, not only during crises but also during periods of change or transition. This may include adjusting to parenthood, navigating retirement, coping with illness, addressing sexual differences or blocks, or working with a shared sense of stuckness around recurring issues. Couples therapy can provide an opportunity to slow down, understand patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and find new ways to communicate and connect. The work is collaborative, respectful, and focused on helping couples navigate both challenges and growth with greater clarity and understanding.

The process can also help couples reconnect with aspects of the relationship that may have become obscured over time, allowing emotional closeness, curiosity, and vitality to re-emerge in ways that feel realistic and sustainable.

If any of this resonates with you, get in touch and let's see if it’s the right fit.

Training, qualifications & experience

I’m a qualified psychodynamic counsellor with a Level 5 Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling. I have experience supporting clients in community agencies and private practice.

I am qualified to work with couples and hold an accredited certificate in couple counselling.

As a Member of the BACP, I follow their Ethical Framework, which means I regularly meet with a senior colleague for supervision and take part in ongoing professional development and structured training. This helps me ensure my work stays safe, supportive, and effective for every client I work with.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Fees

£65.00 per session

Additional information

My standard fee is £65 per 50-minute session, for both in-person and online counselling. Cancellations of less than 24 hours notice must still be paid for. I have a small number of reduced-fee spaces for clients on low incomes (including students), and this is something that we can discuss in our initial introductory session, which is conducted either online or via the telephone.

Further information

For those unable to attend in person, I offer secure and confidential online sessions, so you can access support from wherever you are. If meeting face to face isn’t possible, we can work together online, creating a safe, supportive space from the comfort of your own home or similar private location. This way, counselling can be accessible no matter your location or circumstances.

To get the best from your sessions, it helps to have a private, comfortable space where you feel safe to speak freely and without interruption. Think of it as your personal time and place for reflection and growth.
