About me

My name's Jake, and I'm a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor working online with adults across East Sussex and the wider UK. Before qualifying as a therapist, I spent over ten years working in healthcare, including six years within NHS mental health services. During that time, I worked alongside individuals experiencing homelessness, domestic violence, drug and alcohol dependency, and those from marginalised communities who faced significant barriers to accessing support.

That background shapes how I work today. I know the path to therapy is rarely straightforward, and that whatever you bring into the room is almost always tangled up with the wider stuff going on in your life. I'm not here to judge - I bring genuine curiosity, warmth, and real respect for your experience.

My training is integrative - I draw on person-centred, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioural, and narrative approaches, whatever fits best for you. I hold a Professional Diploma in Psychological Counselling, and I'm an accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS)
