About me

There's something quite special about the relationship you can build in counselling. A space where we can talk about things that might otherwise go unsaid, explore feelings that are difficult to put into words, and begin to understand ourselves in ways we perhaps hadn't before.

I'm Jack, a BACP-registered counsellor with over 3,500 clinical hours supporting adults and young people (13+). I work with a wide range of presenting difficulties, including anxiety, depression, school- and work-related stress, and grief. My practice also extends to more complex psychological difficulties and experiences, including trauma, abuse, self-harm and suicidal thoughts.

I work pluralistically, recognising that different people may benefit from different approaches to counselling. For some, this might mean a more structured, goal-focused approach, using techniques from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to understand specific difficulties and develop practical strategies. For others, it might mean a deeper exploration of their life experiences, patterns and sense of self.

I'll bring my professional understanding and ideas to the conversation, but the direction of our work is something we'll decide together. Throughout, my practice remains grounded in person-centred therapy, with a belief in the value of the therapeutic relationship and the possibilities that can emerge from being genuinely understood.

When working with young people, I adapt these same therapeutic foundations to suit their age, interests and ways of communicating. This can include play, storytelling and other creative and imaginative ways of working - thoughtfully adapted to the online counselling setting.

I offer a free 30-minute introductory call where we can discuss what you're looking for, how we might work together, and whether working together feels like a good fit.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
