About me

Hello, and thank you for viewing my profile. I understand how scary it can be to take that first step in reaching out for help or support, and I hope my profile provides the information you need about who I am and my therapeutic practice.

I am a fully qualified Counsellor & Psychotherapist, and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).

I work from a humanistic and integrative perspective in private practice, with experience in a wide range of presenting issues over short- and long-term work. I provide a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space; offering a warm, empathetic, and professional relationship, as we explore thoughts, feelings and experiences in a co-regulated working alliance. I feel the therapeutic relationship is the most significant element in the effectiveness of psychotherapy, and the core of my work is the development of a real relationship, where I will bring ‘my-self' and support you to be 'your-self.'

I support the view that every person is unique; with no two experiences the same. Respecting client autonomy, and facilitating a sense of self that is important to you.

I believe that everyone is trying to be the best they can be, given what has happened during their lives, and my philosophy as a humanistic and integrative psychotherapist draws parallels with what is formed in relationship can be healed in relationship. We are all worthy of being offered the right conditions and we all have the power to move forward from a point of implacability and emotional conflict and experience freedom, whilst learning to accept and love ourselves for who we really are.

When looking for a therapist, it is really important that you find the right one for you. I offer a free 20 minute consultation where we can get to know one another, talking through what you want from therapy and any worries you might have. I am happy to answer any questions about how I work, so you can make the choices you need with confidence.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP)
  • Foundation Access in Counselling & Psychotherapy (Level 3)
  • BSc (Hons) in Counselling & Psychotherapy (Level 6)
  • Volunteer Psychotherapist at Nottingham Counselling Service
  • Enhanced DBS check, allowing me to work with children and vulnerable adults.

I completed my degree in Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy at The Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute, which is accredited by the Staffordshire University. As part of the course, I also volunteered at a Nottingham counselling charity, and continued to offer my services after graduating until recently. I am also in regular supervision.

I would like to share that I have been a client in therapy in previous years, and wouldn't be where I am today without the meaningful contact, support and safe space during those sessions, as well as the knowledge and tools shared.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

I am offering online video sessions via Zoom or WhatsApp, as well as face-to-face, to make sessions more accessible for you. I decided to continue with this method after the pandemic, as many clients have found being in the comfort of their own surroundings has enhanced their work, as well as having more availability to fit therapy in to the new ways of working/living.
