About me
Counselling / therapy offer the possibility of meeting some of the simple human needs that can be rare to find in today’s busy society: a space to be heard, and to be able to hear your own story, with its passions and its pain; a space to be seen, and to see yourself in both new and reaffirming ways; a space for the expression and unfolding of your true nature, for tuning in to your heart and soul, and for being welcomed just as you are.
I offer this welcoming space where we can explore together any troubles or wishes, hopes or fears you may have in your life. As an integrative practitioner, I incorporate a range of approaches that will support us to look at patterns you may be stuck in, or ways you are not feeling fulfilled, or any other challenges you may be facing.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am an Integrative Counsellor, having completed an in-depth Level 6 Diploma with the Welsh Psychotherapy Institute, Cardiff. As a member of BACP, I am fully supported by their policies and code of ethics. I have appropriate insurance and a current DBS.
My background is as a project manager in the voluntary sector, where I found my niche putting things back where they belong, while quietly nurturing my own longing to find my place in the world.
Becoming a counsellor /therapist has been part of this journey, and I love the learning about myself that is involved in the work; it balances my natural curiosity about other people and their stories. I’m fascinated by the place of connection where I appreciate another as a unique human being while also recognising the things that we share in common as members of the human race.
I’m naturally sensitive, imaginative and creative with a strong commitment to fairness and empowerment.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
