About me

Starting therapy can feel like a step into the unknown. As we come to understand ourselves better and feel truly heard, it can also be deeply fulfilling.

You may come with a particular concern, be struggling with difficult feelings that don’t have an obvious source, or you may simply want to live more fully. I offer an accepting and exploratory space, in which you can process your feelings and better understand your plain. Together, we can create meaning and elicit real change.

Many of us were taught to minimise or distract from our suffering. While this is common, the pain doesn't vanish. It stays beneath the surface, manifesting in unwanted patterns. Real transformation occurs when we embrace these patterns without judgment, engaging rather than fighting against them. I may challenge you at times, but always from a position of deep empathy.

I work to build a collaborative and attuned relationship with you in which we can explore your thoughts, feelings and relationships, past and present. Through this process we can come to a deeper understanding of yourself, the people around you, and your world.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have some eight years of experience supporting diverse people with their mental health. In the NHS, I provided therapy for women with histories of childhood sexual abuse and complex trauma. I have also supported clients in the charity sector, prisons, immigration removal centres and higher education.

I was Operations Director at mental health charity Mind in Camden, where I led on development and delivery of mental health services. Before working in this field, I worked as a journalist, specialising in mental and sexual health as well as the arts.

My qualifications include:

  • Postgraduate Certificate in Integrative Psychotherapy (Regent's University)
  • MA in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling (Regent's University)
  • Certificate in reflective mental health practice (The Tavistock & Portman NHS Foundation Trust)
  • Certificate in Psychoanalytic Counselling & Psychotherapy (The Tavistock & Portman NHS Foundation Trust)
  • MA in Journalism (City University)
  • BA in English Literature (Bristol University)

I also commit to regular and continuing professional training, which has included topics such as Psychoanalysis and the Socio-Political World, Internal Family Systems, working with dreams, attachment theory, and creative writing as therapy.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
