Please email me at playpsychotherapy@outlook.com to arrange an initial phone call.
What is being offered?
- Individual play and creative arts psychotherapy for children and young people aged between 3 and 13 years
- Therapeutic parenting support and consultation
- Dyadic play therapy for children and their parents or guardians (where you are supported to be present and become a key part of your child's therapeutic progress)
What is Play Psychotherapy?
Play Psychotherapy is a form of therapy where a child or young person is able to communicate their thoughts, feelings, and experiences through their play and creative expression, in relationship with their therapist.
It is a developmentally appropriate form of psychotherapy for children, without any pressure or expectation for them to talk through what has or is happening to them.
There is a lot of high-quality research which shows the effectiveness of child-centred play therapy. See https://evidencebasedchildtherapy.com/about-us/ for more details about this.
Some outcomes of play psychotherapy are:
- increased ability to express thoughts and feelings
- improved self-esteem and self-image
- develop more socially appropriate behaviour
- improved concentration
- increased confidence in peer relationships
- improved family relationships
