About me
Is there a problem that continues to trouble you, a situation or a relationship that you are finding difficult?
Life can be challenging at times and talking to a counsellor can help you navigate through these difficult periods. You may be experiencing low mood , feeling anxious and not understand the cause of this or it may be a situation, a person or an event who has triggered these unwanted thoughts and feelings.
Whatever the problem is by reaching out and making that first contact we can work together to make sense of what is happening and find ways in which counselling can support you.
About Me
I have experience of working in the voluntary sector, civil service and the NHS and experience working with issues such as relationship problems, anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, domestic abuse, trauma, loss and bereavement, narcissistic abuse. I have supported clients who are neurodivergent and worked extensively with clients with autism and ADHD.
I have a particular interest with inner child work and how childhood experiences can impact the person who we are today. I also understand and value the importance animals play in our lives and I am qualified with the Blue Cross to support owners who have suffered the loss of their pet, through rehoming euthanasia and pet bereavement.
I am qualified in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis and Person Centred theory which underpins my work. I will work with you and listen to what you need from counselling so therapy is tailor made to your specific need. We will review the work regularly to make sure that counselling is still meeting your needs.
As a qualified counsellor and registered member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) I work in accordance with the Ethical Framework and keep my knowledge up to date with professional development whilst having regular supervision.
Location
My therapy room is at Merchants House, which is in the heart of Stockport's historic market place. I am conveniently located within walking distance from the train station, bus routes and major motorway links. Two hours free parking is available within a 5 minute walk of the office. Safe, secure and indoor space available to store bicycles.
Next Steps/Contact/Cost
Contact me to arrange an initial telephone call, where we can discuss your counselling requirements. Following this call we can then arrange a free first 30 minute session to meet and look at how we will work together to make sense of the thoughts, feelings and experiences which may be holding you back from enjoying a fuller life.
My fees are £50 per session with a limited number of concessions available for students and senior citizens.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
