About me

I am a BACP Accredited Psychotherapist, Trauma/EMDR Therapist and Specialist Infertility and Involuntary Childlessness Psychotherapist, specialising in working with women.  I have over 15 years experience of working in the field of mental health.

I work with women who have experienced trauma, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other distressing life events. This may have happened when you were a child or more recently as an adult. I work with all types of traumatic experiences, including historical child sexual abuse, domestic violence, sexual trauma and gender based violence.  Trauma can also encompass other life experiences such as being diagnosed with a life-threatening illness, losing a loved one, or the ongoing effects of a painful and difficult childhood, including bullying.

I also specialise in working with women who are struggling with infertility, baby loss and childlessness.  The uncertainties surrounding infertility, treatment outcomes and future pregnancies can be very distressing and have a significant impact on a woman’s emotional wellbeing.

My aim is to provide a safe therapeutic space for exploration, healing and recovery.

My offering includes trauma focused therapy,  Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and specialist counselling/therapy for infertility, childlessness and baby loss.

I offer a free 20 min telephone consultation. This will be an opportunity for us to discuss your reasons for seeking therapy and for you to get a sense of me and how I work. If after our telephone consultation we decide that it would be helpful to meet, the next stage of the process will be an initial consultation where we can discuss your needs in more detail and how we can work together.

Location

I am based in my own private consulting room which is located in the Hackney, Mare Street, E8 area.

In addition to face-to-face sessions, I also offer the option of online and telephone therapy sessions.

Please feel free to contact me with any queries.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Master’s Degree (with distinction) in Counselling & Psychotherapy and a BSc (Hons) degree in Integrative Counselling. I have followed these qualifications with additional training,  specialising now in working with trauma, infertility, involuntary childlessness and baby loss.

Over the years and as my interests have evolved, I have been drawn to specialise in working with women suffering from trauma and other distressing life events and experiences. In order to assist me in this important work I have completed a diploma in trauma therapy at post-graduate level and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing) training.

I have also undertaken specialist training in relation infertility and baby loss, and I am currently undertaking a PhD at the University of Chester, exploring experiences of infertility .

In addition to my current private practice, I have many years’ previous experience of working as a counsellor and psychotherapist within the NHS.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
