About me

There are times when we need that bit of extra support away from the main areas of our lives. It can be a very brave step to seek out therapy but it can turn out to be a very valuable one. Therapy can provide a space that might not exist in your everyday life; a space where 50 minutes is just about you with no interruptions and where someone truly listens and empathizes with your situation.

I believe that the relationship between client and therapist is at the heart of the work and I feel if we can work well together then this can help your relationships in your everyday life.

I work integratively using a mix of therapeutic styles based on each client I see as everyone is individual. I have a strong background in psychodynamic work meaning if relevant we can look at past experiences to see how they are impacting on you today.

I have over 15 years experience of working with clients both long and short-term in various settings such as counselling agencies, schools and the NHS.

I have extensive experience of working long-term with those who have experienced developmental trauma either through sexual, emotional and physical abuse.

I am here to support those who are curious about their lives and the sometimes maladaptive coping mechanisms we have used to sooth ourselves along life’s journey.

I worked for five years in mental health services training people to work with people experiencing mental health issues particularly people who were suicidal.

The last 5 years I have worked within an EAP service firstly managing complex trauma and risk and now supervising other therapists with the work and writing comprehensive training to support staff learning and welfare.

Therapy at times can be a difficult experience but I am here to support you as you gain strength and insight.

I am a fully accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and adhere to their professional framework.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
