About me
Hello, I’m Helen, a psychotherapist with over 15 years of experience working in NHS Mental Health Services. For most of my career I have worked in general adult mental health which means I can support adults facing a wide range of emotional challenges. I am an accredited CBT therapist as well as trained in EMDR and Interpersonal Psychotherapy.
I am trained to work with a range of difficulties which includes:
- Anxiety and depression (including antenatal and postnatal depression)
- Low self esteem
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
- Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- Birth trauma and tokophobia (severe fear of birth)
- Grief and loss
- Emotional issues linked to childhood adversity
- Impact of sexual or domestic abuse
Prior to setting up my own therapy practice, I helped establish NHS Maternal Mental Health Services in Oxfordshire. A core part of my work has been supporting families affected by birth trauma, pregnancy loss, fear of childbirth, and other difficulties related to parenthood. I care deeply about advocating for parents and families, and it's this commitment that's drawn me to specialise in perinatal mental health.
I’ve seen first-hand the difference compassionate, evidence-based therapy can make. I believe meaningful change begins with feeling truly heard. I offer a safe space where we can work together to find the right approach for you.
I you would like to find out more, I offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation.
