About me

I am an HCPC registered Counselling Psychologist working with adults aged 18+, face to face and online. I have NHS and community experience working with a range of conditions. I work with anxiety, depression and trauma, including PTSD and complex trauma (childhood abuse, sexual abuse, coercive relationships etc). I've worked as a psychologist for nearly 25 years and am experienced in assessing your needs and ensuring that how we work will suit and support you to move forward in your life.

I work relationally, that is, working with you to make sense of your experiences, exploring patterns, and identifying underlying themes or beliefs that may contribute to your difficulties. I very much look to create an approach that is tailored to your unique circumstances and draws on a range of evidence-based approaches including person-centred counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and EMDR (trauma therapy).

I have male and female clients and have a special interest in women's mental health including menopause and parenting. I also work with low self-esteem and confidence issues.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a first-class doctorate in Counselling Psychology, as well as a Masters degree and Bachelors degree in Psychology. I am registered with the HCPC (PYL02664). (You can check the register by visiting www.hcp-uk.org and searching by name or number). I am also a Chartered Member of The British Psychological Society (BPS) (108803).

I predominantly trained in person-centred and CBT approaches and more recently completed EMDR trauma training. As an integrative therapist I pull on a variety of approaches, tools and techniques to suit the presenting problem, thereby ensuring that you receive evidence-based care.

Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
