About me
Hi, my name is Helen, and I am a qualified counsellor working with clients 18+ years. I have supported clients experiencing a wide range of different issues including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, bereavement, stress, anger, relationships problems, and many others.
Seeking support may feel daunting at this time. Talking to those close to you may feel difficult and this may leave you feeling quite isolated in what you are going through.
I genuinely believe the answers exist within you, as you know yourself better than anyone else ever will, and as a professional and qualified counsellor, I will help and support you in this process of exploration.
The counselling space I offer is one of warmth, acceptance and openness where you may feel comfortable exploring your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. I will respectfully work alongside you to help you build a better understanding and awareness of yourself or the situation you face, so you may feel empowered to make your own decisions or obtain the change or acceptance you may seek.
My integrative training means I can adapt a variety of counselling approaches to find an approach comfortable for you.
As a registered member of the BACP I adhere to their professional and ethical framework to ensure your best interests remain at the heart of our work together.

The above form the foundation of my qualifications and experience. Furthermore, I am committed to my continual professional development to ensure that I continue to effectively meet client needs.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information
I am conscious that your process of finding the right counsellor for you is so important and therefore I offer a free 20-minute telephone/Zoom introductory session so we have an opportunity to chat through what you wish to explore and achieve in therapy, explain how I work and most importantly ensure you feel comfortable working with me.
Whether you are looking for short-term or longer-term therapy I am here to support you. Currently I have availability for online weekly counselling sessions via the secure platform of Zoom.
Online counselling has proven to be just as effective as face-to-face therapy, but this of course depends on your preferences and needs. It can have the bonus of being within your familiar surroundings and comfort. All I would ask is that you have a confidential space where you will not be interrupted or overheard.
Individual counselling sessions last 50 minutes and usually occur at the same time each week.
