About me

Hi I'm Hazel I am a fully qualified, registered counsellor and supervisor. I have extensive experience working with abuse, sexual, physical and emotional abuse. I work with clients who have experienced childhood trauma and also clients who have relationship issues this can include partners, family or colleagues. I also work with anxiety, stress and depression, I have training in grief and bereavement counselling.

I offer a private and friendly setting for you to talk though your issues, things can be difficult or uncomfortable to talk about but I will listen without any judgement or bias, I will always take the lead from you and how you are feeling in the moment.

Because every client is unique I adapt my style of counselling to best suit you,  I can work creatively which can be beneficial to those who find it hard expressing how they feel but most importantly I am here to listen to you.  My goal is to help support you through and overcome these problems, enabling you to move on and grow and also help you develop coping skills for the future.

Finding the right counsellor for you is very important so I offer a free introductory phone call to discuss your own personal goals and what you need from therapy. Each counselling session is 50 minutes face to face, I also can offer counselling sessions on zoom etc or by telephone as I know how busy life can be.

I am based in Whitley Bay, which has good public transport and also near by parking.

I am a member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and also The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
