About me

**Currently accepting new clients**

I am a creative, enthusiastic, yet boundaried psychotherapeutic counsellor based in Bristol, and specialise in a form of talking therapy called transactional analysis.

I run Cactus Counselling. Why "Cactus"?, Well, anxiety, depression, low self esteem, and family issues tend to make us feel prickly on the outside but soft and vulnerable on the inside, and even if that means we're well adapted to our current situation, many people recognise that a change is needed to live in somewhere more clement than the deserts of life. I offer psychotherapeutic counselling to help people explore beyond their thorns.

I work well with teenagers aged 16+ and am currently building a therapy group for childfree and childless people. See my web site for further details.

I offer sessions in person in a comfy room in Clifton / BS8, in one of Bedminster's beautiful parks, via Zoom or by telephone.

So, what can you expect from a transactional analysis style of counselling? Well, TA, as it's affectionately known, lends itself both to short-term work to help you make helpful behavioural changes, and long-term work if you need to delve into your history to better understand your past or make peace with your past.

Training, qualifications & experience

I began my training in 2010, starting with a series of courses in person-centered counselling. The final course introduced me to several therapeutic disciplines, including transactional analysis, which I enjoyed so much that from then on I knew which area I wanted to specialise in! After that I took a Diploma in Counselling at The Link Centre specialising in TA, and qualified in January 2022.

I enjoy learning about new aspects of therapy and continue to expand my knowledge.

As of September 2022 I am training to earn my Certificate in Transactional Analysis to qualify as a psychotherapist.

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
