About me

Life can be hard. Sometimes you may feel stuck, overwhelmed or simply just in need of some extra support.  I offer a space that is free of judgement, friendly and empathic to help uncover and explore experiences and emotions that may be contributing to some of those occurrences in the present time. Whether it be an event in the present with which you feel the need for some added support as you work through it or if you're wanting to explore past experiences, we'll work at a pace set by you, in a boundaried and safe manner, offering either a short or long term counselling and psychotherapy service for you.

Having experienced it myself, I know the benefits and transformative ways of therapy that can change lives. I also recognise that this can be a nerve-racking experience reaching out for help. I will look to build a trusting, honest and strong therapeutic relationship with you as the client to help inform the work that we do together. I believe that finding the right therapist for yourself is key and needs to be the right fit for you to get the most from our sessions together.

I also provide an option to work more creatively in sessions through the use of imagery, creative tools and colour which can be a different but transformative way of working with emotions and experiences, particularly if you're a visual person.

Training, qualifications & experience

I completed my training at City and Islington college in London over 5 years as well as in Lenton, Nottingham with Cruse Bereavement.

I having training within the area of bereavement and vast experience of working with clients focusing on this particular subject over both short term and long term counselling work. I also have a particular interest and experience in working with clients with historical trauma.

I am an individual member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapists (BACP) and work within their ethical frame work to ensure I'm working safely and ethically with you, the client, at the centre of the work. I am also fully insured with public liability insurance.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Key details

Wheelchair user access info
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

The therapy room has lift access. I also offer telephone and online sessions for ease as I believe everyone should be able to have access to therapy.
