About me
Hello, I’m Hannah and I’m a Trauma Informed Integrative Counsellor.
As an Integrative Counsellor, I offer a tailored approach to therapy as every person is unique. Rather than relying on a single modality, I draw from a range of therapeutic models and theories such as person-centred therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), DBT-A and attachment theory. This flexible framework allows me to respond to specific and presenting needs in the here and now.
Experience
I currently work as a counsellor with individuals with various mental health needs within an educational establishment after gaining a masters qualification (MSc, level 7) in psychotherapy.
I have experience of supporting individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, low self worth, low self esteem, low self confidence, self harm, suicidal ideation, difficulties surrounding autism and ADHD, adverse childhood experiences, previous and ongoing trauma and more.
I specialise with supporting individuals under 25 but offer sessions for both young children and adults.
I also specialise and have extensive experience supporting individuals who have special educational needs (SEN) and social and emotional mental health needs (SEMH) such as Autism, ADHD and developmental trauma.
Therapy sessions: what to expect
It can be really daunting starting therapy sessions, this is why every session will be at your pace. Early sessions focus on the building of the therapeutic relationship to build on safety and containment within the therapy session.
Many different resources can be utilised depending on age, preferences and needs. This can include, but not limited to creative mediums, building materials and toys/games if appropriate.
I offer an empathic, non-judgmental and a safe space where you as the client can feel understood. Together, we will explore issues, worries and concerns being faced and work towards a greater understanding to help improve wellbeing.
Initial free consultation
Finding the most suitable counsellor for you is key for a successful therapeutic relationship. I offer a free 20 minute initial telephone or online consultation. This allows for you to decide whether you want to work together towards therapeutic goals.
If you’re seeking counselling for a young person in your care then we can arrange an initial consultation as a group to allow all voices to be heard and be part of the discussion, if appropriate. I will always aim to be flexible in my approach and I am open to suggestions to help support children with relationship building.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have over 9 years experience of supporting children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing across West Midlands, Shropshire and Worcestershire in various roles. I have then completed a masters qualification in Psychotherapy with training and post graduation experience providing counselling/therapy sessions for both adults and children; remotely (adult clients) and in person.
My counselling experience spans supporting adults within educational settings, young adults/students within university, college and alternative provision settings and children within all key stages in primary, secondary and through schools (both private and local authority schools) and provisions which support SEN/SEMH needs, including individuals who are neurodiverse.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
