About me

Hello,

I think counselling is brilliant - I know it makes a tangible difference to the way life feels, and I enjoy being a part of that process.

I am a psychodynamic counsellor, which means I think about how current situations may have been shaped by previous experiences.

My sessions are client-led, which means you can talk about anything that is on your mind and I will listen with care and sensitivity.

My clients often experience clarity in the process of hearing themselves speak and can identify patterns or habits that they want to understand more deeply.

Together we explore, and make meaning from, things that feel bewildering, overwhelming, hopeless or frightening. In this way, you will find ways to manage what may previously have felt unmanageable. You will find a way to move forward with confidence.

You can decide how long you would like to have counselling for. I am available for open-ended work, and can also work to a fixed time scale.

If you would like to find out more, I offer a free 20 minute phone call to discuss your needs. I look forward to hearing from you.

Training, qualifications & experience

Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling from The Counselling Foundation.

Post Graduate Certificate in Child, Adolescent and Family Mental Wellbeing (Level 7 Distinction) from the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust.

I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, and I adhere to their Ethical Framework.

I have monthly supervision and monthly CPD, which ensures that my knowledge continues to deepen and my clinical skills remain at a high standard.

I have over 20 years' experience of therapeutic listening in education and charitable settings. I have worked with children and families in primary and secondary schools, supporting those who struggle to engage with their education or who experience barriers that prevent them from thriving.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
