Giulia Dallas, MA DramaTh, HCPC Reg.
Do you find it difficult to talk about how you really feel? Have you have tried talking therapy in the past and felt like it didn't work for you? Even when we open up to those close to us we risk being met with misunderstanding or even rejection.
How I Can Help
I'm an arts psychotherapist and I specialise in supporting women who feel they are struggling with their mental, emotional and physical health.
You might wonder whether what you’re feeling is ‘normal’ or whether you are 'good enough.' There might be particular issues causing you stress or making you feel isolated:
- anxiety or depression
- problems in relationships
- pregnancy or parenting difficulties
- eating or body image issues
- life changes
Whatever the demands placed on you, whether through family or work, it is important that your mental and physical health needs are not neglected.
Therapy with me means having a safe, confidential space for yourself every week. You can talk without fear of judgement or rejection. You can be yourself.
How I Work
I work in a holistic, client-led way which means I observe the feelings of both body and mind, and work with the issues you want to prioritise. So much of what is going on for us mentally is rooted in the body so it is important to work in a way that encompasses the 'whole' self.
Sharing your thoughts and worries can begin the process of finding ways to improve your situation.
With my dramatherapy training we are also able to explore your concerns through a creative lens. This may involve using art, drama and story, or focussing on the body working with breath and movement. You don't need to have any experience of working creatively and it is your choice to work in this way.
However many of my clients have expressed to me how helpful creative work has been to their recovery by allowing them to access a perspective they hadn't previously thought of. Feelings and memories can also be put outside of yourself and onto an image, character or movement, which can be very helpful if talking feels too raw or difficult.
Where I Work
I am an associate at the Tree of Life Clinic in Fitzrovia, central London.
I also offer online or telephone counselling.
Starting Therapy with Me
I understand that it can be difficult to make time for yourself and you may be unsure if therapy is for you.
A short phone consultation will give us the chance to meet and talk about how we might work together. You can then decide on whether to book a full length online consultation. Here we can discuss your issues further, you can ask me questions and get a feel for what therapy with me would be like.
There is no obligation to commit to therapy if you have a consultation. It is very important to me that you feel comfortable and think that the therapy I offer is what you're looking for.
Therapy usually takes place weekly at the same time, however twice weekly or fortnightly sessions may be possible on further discussion.
Online or telephone therapy also means my support is accessible from anywhere in the UK.
I am fully registered with the HCPC and BADth, and adhere to their codes of conduct and ethics.
You can book in for a short phone consultation or a full online consultation directly at www.calendly.com/mumsthewordtherapy
