About me
Are you feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious or like you've been carrying too much for too long?
Perhaps you're constantly thinking, analysing, worrying or trying to keep everything going for everyone else, while somewhere along the way you've lost sight of yourself.
You might be struggling with anxiety, low mood, relationships, OCD, addictive or obsessive behaviours, neurodivergence or simply a feeling that life has become harder to navigate than it should be. You may not even know exactly what is wrong, you just know that something needs to change.
Whatever has brought you here, you don't need to have it all worked out before you start.
I'm Georgie, an NCPS Accredited integrative counsellor based in Newquay, Cornwall. At the heart of my work is the person-centred belief that you are the expert in your own experience. I don't see my role as fixing you or telling you what to do. Instead, I offer a genuine, accepting and non-judgemental space where we can make sense of what is happening and work out together what you need.
I came to counselling the long way round. Becoming a therapist had been a plan since my late twenties, but life took me in all sorts of directions before I finally qualified at 51. That journey of studying, self-discovery, raising children and navigating my own curveballs has shaped the way I work. I know what it is like to carry too much without having anywhere to put it down, and I know how valuable it can be to finally have somewhere safe to do that.
I'm an integrative counsellor, which means I can adapt the way I work rather than expecting you to fit into one particular model. My core approach is person-centred, but depending on what you need, we might explore thoughts, feelings, patterns, relationships or behaviours in different ways. Sometimes that might include creative approaches or simply having the space to talk and be properly heard.
I have a particular interest in neurodiversity, including ADHD, autism, PDA and OCD. I also bring many years of lived experience through my own family, alongside professional training in understanding autism and ADHD. I understand that neurodiversity isn't simply about a diagnosis. It can affect confidence, relationships, emotional regulation, family life, expectations and the exhausting experience of constantly trying to work out how to navigate a world that doesn't always feel designed for you.
I also have a particular interest in supporting people affected by addiction. I currently work one day a week within an addiction clinic, supporting adults experiencing addictive behaviours and associated emotional distress, as well as facilitating therapeutic group work within a wider team.
I also understand that addiction affects far more than the person experiencing it. If you are living alongside someone else's addiction, you may find yourself caught between love, worry, anger, guilt, responsibility and the need to protect yourself. Counselling can give you somewhere to explore your experience without judgement and begin to work out what is, and isn't, yours to carry.
You might arrive knowing exactly what you want to work on, or you might simply know that you're not feeling like yourself. Either is absolutely fine.
You don't need the right words, a diagnosis or a clear plan.
We can start wherever you are and work it out together.

Areas of counselling I deal with
Other areas of counselling I deal with
I have a particular interest in neurodiversity, including ADHD, autism and PDA, and in supporting people affected by OCD. This may involve exploring the impact on confidence, emotional wellbeing, relationships and family life, as well as the exhaustion that can come from constantly adapting, advocating or trying to make sense of experiences that others do not always understand.
I also support people affected by their own or someone else’s addiction. Alongside my private practice, I work one day a week within an addiction clinic, supporting adults experiencing addictive behaviours and associated emotional distress, and facilitating therapeutic group work as part of a wider team.
