I am a qualified, experienced psychotherapeutic counsellor supporting individuals in their 20s and 30s to navigate anxiety, stress, burnout and trauma. I also support couples and multiple relationship partners with communication, conflict, betrayal and intimacy issues.

My approach blends practical tools and strategies with in-depth analysis of how your patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving are keeping you stuck.

Maybe you already have a high-level of self-awareness (you've even tried therapy before) and you're looking for more than just an empathetic listener to help you move from awareness into tangible, lasting change. Or perhaps you want to try therapy for the first time, don't know where to start and need a therapist who can guide the conversation

My style is candid and down-to-earth and you will find that I am ready to challenge you, when the timing is right. Most importantly, I am unflinchingly open-minded and accepting. No part of you is too ugly, too messy or too shameful to bring to therapy. If you’re curious about whether we might be a good fit, don't hesitate to reach out. I look forward to meeting you and I will be happy to answer your questions before you decide your next steps.

How I work

Individual sessions last 50 minutes. Couple/group sessions last 50 or 70 minutes.

I offer two scheduling options:

Option 1: Regular scheduling
Weekly or fortnightly sessions at a recurring day/time slot. Consistent, reliable structure that takes the stress out of managing your calendar. Going on holiday or got a project deadline to focus on? Just give notice and we can discuss taking a short break, or temporarily finding other times to meet around your other commitments.

Option 2: Flexible Scheduling

Flexible, irregular sessions planned in blocks 4-12 weeks in advance. Allows you to vary the day/time of your sessions (subject to availability). Perfect for shift workers, freelancers, and professionals who frequently travel for work.

My therapeutic approach

I draw from various psychological and therapeutic theories to tailor my approach to your goals and needs. Below I have listed some of the theories I use most often in my work, and a short description of what they mean in plain English, so you can decide if they sound right for you.

  • Transactional Analysis - a structured therapy for deep analysis of personality and communication. TA helps us understand your assumptions about yourself, others, and life in general. It helps you identify the unconscious patterns of thinking, feeling and behaviour that are keeping you stuck and aims to support you to live with more awareness, spontaneity and intimacy.
  • Relational therapy - focuses on the relationship between client and therapist in real-time during sessions. This helps to improve trust, communication, self-awareness, and emotional intimacy in your social and romantic relationships.
  • Polyvagal approach/nervous system regulation - helps you to manage intense emotions, body sensations and dissociation so you can respond, rather than react.
  • Attachment theory - understanding your attachment style helps you to build secure relationships where you feel deeply understood.
  • Somatic experiencing - methods to improve your mind-body connection and feel more present, without getting overwhelmed by stress, trauma or anxiety.
  • Systemic therapy - an approach that assumes that problems exist between people as part of a "system", not just within one person. Systemic therapy analyses how problems are created and sustained within the "system". This approach acknowledges individual responsibility and power for change, without pinpointing blame. It also accounts for the external social, cultural and political factors that impact our choices and wellbeing.
  • Existential therapy - opening discussions beyond the everyday to reveal deeper, subconscious desires and fears, helping you to lead a more fulfilling life that aligns with your values.

What to expect from therapy

Therapy is a process of discovery that requires you to invest your time, courage and commitment in the process. The reward can be a transformation of yourself, your relationships and your overall wellbeing and satisfaction in life.

Initial sessions

The first couple of sessions will focus on understanding what has brought you to therapy at this time in your life. I will ask questions to understand key details about you and your history. You can expect these sessions to feel like having a conversation with a curious listener and to leave with some fresh perspectives.

Building a therapeutic relationship

Once we have a shared understanding of what's brought you to therapy, we will continue to build a therapeutic relationship while working towards your therapeutic goals. This might involve:

  • learning theories about personality and communication that can help you understand the issues you are facing;
  • practising emotional regulation skills;
  • identifying unconscious patterns that are keeping you stuck;
  • doing "homework" activities between sessions;

  • getting in touch with your somatic experiences – the ways your emotions show up in your body;

  • exploring experiences from your past and how they have shaped your life today, so that you can make new decisions that help you move forward;
  • paying close attention to the relationship between client and therapist to gain insight on other relationships in your life;
  • experimenting with new ways of interacting both during and between sessions.

As you build self-awareness, you may face some uncomfortable realisations or feel challenged. You may also grieve what is lost as you make changes to your life. Progress is rarely linear — it often looks messy and confused. This is why it is important to build a therapeutic relationship which will help you address your issues safely at the pace that suits you. As your therapist, I will walk alongside you, providing reassurance and encouragement to help you create lasting change.

Reflecting and reviewing

Maintaining an open dialogue and taking regular moments to review is an important part of the way I work. It strengthens our therapeutic relationship and allows you to recognise and celebrate the changes you have made. It also helps you to see if there's more work you'd like to do, or if you are feeling ready to take a break or end therapy.

Statement on values

I seek to provide inclusive therapy where every person can feel safe and understood, no matter their background.

My work is:

  • Anti-racist
  • Anti-ableist
  • LGBTQIA+ inclusive
  • Trans-affirming
  • Inclusive of open relationships, non-monogamy/ENM and polyamory
  • Inclusive of Gender, Sex and Relationship Diversity (GSRD)
  • Neurodivergence-affirming
  • Class-aware

I have extensive experience working with:

  • LGBTQIA+ people (including those who are questioning or exploring their identity)
  • Disabled, chronically ill and sensory-impaired people and the people who care for them
  • Neurodivergent people, including ADHD and Autism and those who are pre-diagnosis/self-diagnosed. (Please note that my training as a psychotherapeutic counsellor does not qualify me to make clinical diagnoses.)
  • First-generation immigrants, "expats", and their children and grandchildren.

Curious if I'm a good fit for you?

Get in touch by email to arrange a free 20-minute introductory call. I usually reply within 24 hours.

The introductory call is a friendly conversation that gives an opportunity for me to understand what you're looking to gain from therapy sessions and for you to see how you like speaking with me, to make sure that we will build a positive relationship that supports you to transform your life in the ways you choose.
