About me
Taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting, and I aim to offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you feel safe to explore whatever is bringing you to therapy.
I am a counsellor working with adults, teenagers and children from age 8. I offer both face to face sessions locally and online sessions nationwide, providing flexible support that fits around your life.
My core training is in person-centred and integrative counselling. This means our work together is led by you, your experiences, your pace and your goals. As an integrative practitioner, I draw upon elements of person-centred theory, psychodynamic theory, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) where appropriate. This allows me to tailor our sessions to your individual needs, whether you are seeking to understand the impact of past experiences, develop practical coping strategies, or build resilience and psychological flexibility.
I work in a neuro-affirming way, recognising and valuing neurodiversity. I aim to create an inclusive therapeutic environment where those with neurodivergent traits feel understood, respected and supported, whether diagnosed or not.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am an Accredited Registrant with the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and hold Diplomas in both psychotherapeutic and person-centred counselling. I have received specialist training in working with children and young people, and know how to meet the child where they are, using suitable creative or playful interventions. I am committed to ongoing professional development and to working ethically, safely and with integrity.
I have four years’ experience working with children and young people. I have worked both as a senior counsellor for a charity, providing free of charge counselling to those in need, and in a role as a Matron at a prestigious local school. This is in addition to my private practice. This has given me a deep understanding of the emotional, social and developmental challenges young people from all walks of life face. I provide a gentle, age appropriate space where children and teenagers can express themselves safely and build confidence and emotional resilience.
Prior to training as a counsellor, I spent many years working in law enforcement and the civil service. I understand first hand the pressures, responsibilities and cultural challenges that come with these roles. I welcome enquiries from those seeking support from someone who truly understands the demands of working within high pressure environments.
