About me
I am a qualified counsellor and a registered member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). I have experience supporting clients through a wide range of emotional difficulties and life challenges, including anxiety, depression, neurodivergence, grief and loss, low self-esteem, trauma, loneliness, people-pleasing behaviours, and questions around life direction, meaning and purpose.
I believe that all emotions are valid and natural responses to our lived experiences. Whatever has brought you to counselling, I will offer a safe, supportive and confidential space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences at your own pace, free from judgement.
You are always in control of what you choose to bring to our sessions, and there will never be any pressure to discuss anything you do not feel ready to explore. My role is to work alongside you, helping you gain greater understanding, self-awareness and clarity. We will also regularly review our work together to ensure that counselling is meeting your needs and supporting your goals.
If you have any questions or would like to find out more about how I work, please feel free to get in touch. I will be happy to help.
Counselling is not a quick fix or a magic solution. Meaningful change comes through the therapeutic relationship and the work we do together, creating opportunities for growth, healing and lasting change.
Training, qualifications & experience
Choosing the right counsellor is an important part of the therapeutic process. As a professionally trained counsellor with experience supporting clients through a wide range of emotional and personal difficulties, I understand that beginning therapy can feel like a significant step.
Your first session provides an opportunity for us to get to know one another and explore whether we are a good fit to work together. It gives you the chance to ask any questions about my approach, training, experience, or the counselling process, helping you make an informed decision about whether I am the right counsellor for you.
During this session, I will take time to understand what has brought you to counselling, the challenges you are currently facing, and what you hope to achieve through therapy. Together, we can discuss your goals and consider how counselling can be tailored to meet your individual needs. I will also explain confidentiality and the counselling process in more detail, helping you feel informed, reassured, and clear about what to expect from our work together.
I appreciate that investing in counselling is both a financial and emotional commitment. In the current economic climate, many people are understandably concerned about paying for initial appointments only to discover that a counsellor is not the right fit for them. To help alleviate this concern, I offer a free 20-minute telephone or online consultation with no obligation to book further sessions.
This consultation allows you to ask questions, discuss what you are looking for from therapy, and gain a sense of how I work. There is no pressure to continue if you do not feel the fit is right. Research consistently shows that a strong therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors in achieving positive outcomes from counselling, so finding a counsellor you feel comfortable with is essential.
