About me
I'm Gemma, I am a qualified person-centred counsellor committed to providing a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space, to adults and young people, either face to face or online.
I provide a space where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences at their own pace. My approach is based on the belief that each individual has the capacity for growth, self-understanding, and positive change when offered empathy, acceptance, and genuine therapeutic support.
I work collaboratively with clients, valuing their unique experiences and respecting their autonomy throughout the counselling process. Rather than directing or advising, I aim to facilitate self-exploration and help clients gain greater awareness, confidence, and resilience.
I have experience supporting individuals with a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, life transitions, and emotional wellbeing. I am committed to creating an inclusive environment where clients feel heard, understood, and valued regardless of their background, identity, or circumstances.
I use a pluralistic approach, drawing on person-centred, cognitive behavioural (CBT), and psychodynamic techniques. This allows me to tailor therapy to each individual’s unique needs.
I have experience working in a trauma-informed way, with adults from diverse backgrounds in both private practice and organisational settings.
My practice is guided by professional ethical standards, ongoing professional development, and a genuine belief in the healing potential of a trusting therapeutic relationship.
