About me

Hi, my name is Gemma and I am an Integrative Psychotherapist in Jersey and online. In my private practice, I work with children and adolescents and their surrounding families and professionals. I also support young adults in the transition to adulthood. Please get in touch for a free initial call.

My main aim is to work with you or your child on the key need to become unstuck and live a calmer and happier life. My goal is to provide a calm, and non-judgemental space which feels safe to explore what's going on for you. I offer creative methods such as drawing, sand tray and clay, to explore thoughts and feelings further than words can sometimes allow for.

Finding a therapist can be overwhelming, especially if you are new to therapy. It takes courage to take the first step and it is important that you find the right person for you. I provide a friendly and confidential space for exploration of who you are and where any difficulties come from, in a way that is tailored to you.

I offer a variety of ways of working, in our free initial chat and 1st session together we can figure out what works for you, or your child to ensure the right approach for your family. My aim is to provide a space to help move on from the difficulties you are facing in a way that suits you, feels safe, and without judgement.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained as an Integrative Psychotherapist for 6 years following my degree in psychology and working in specialist settings such as schools, residential homes and support work. I specialise working with children, adolescents and families. I also work with adults & parents.

I work creatively and adapt my ways of working to each individual. I have training in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, Theraplay and Trauma-Informed CBT. I work relationally, using what is happening in the room to guide you or your child to make shifts in their life.

I have specialised in developmental trauma, children in care, neurodiversity including autism, AuDHD, ADHD, learning needs and foetal alcohol. I’ve worked with very complex presentations such as low mood, self-harm, school problems, emotion regulation and trauma. I work with families who have experience domestic abuse, or who are struggling to know what to do and feel stuck in daily life.

Please get in touch for a free consultation to see if I am the right person to support you.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
