About me
Dr Geetha is a rare combination of a medical doctor and a qualified Counsellor / Psychotherapist.
Geetha's clientele includes young people, adults, families, and older people In her holistic psycho-somatic approach, she uses Person Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance, and Commitment Therapy, Compassion focussed therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Creative therapy, and Mindfulness. She may add other therapeutic approaches if needed, as all her sessions are tailor-made based on client needs.
She practices online, via telephone calls, and face-to-face at the Clinic, in Leeds..Each session is tailor-made in consultation with the client and will last 45 mins.
Training, qualifications & experience
Geetha trained and qualified to obtain a medical degree and a post-graduation in Metabolic medicine and worked in India, Malaysia, and NHS, UK Hence, she has a wide experience in physical and psychological issues and hence focuses on holistic psycho-somatic healing.
Due to her keen interest in body-mind healing, she obtained a PG Certificate in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Leeds Beckett University.
Geetha has worked with Bradford Counselling Services and Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Drug De-Addiction Services, and Sanjeevan Associates. This registered company provides care and support to people with mental health needs.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Every therapeutic intervention is tailor-made to suit the client's needs with ongoing feedback and an output-based focus. Geetha and her psychologist husband Dr. Shripati Upadhyaya, a leading senior Clinical Psychologist known for his work in Autism and Asperger, have established charities for people with Autism in India and the UK and continue to work with such groups nationally and internationally.
