Fiona Riley PGDip Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, BACP
As a Psychotherapist and Counsellor, I work both in private practice in the City, North West London and in the NHS. I am experienced in a wide range of emotional or relationship difficulties working one to one with adults of all ages, cultural backgrounds, genders and sexual orientations offering short term and long term open-ended therapy.
My experience shows me we all have difficult feelings in one form or another whether this be deciding between different career or life paths and or feeling anxious or depressed. It takes courage to acknowledge difficult emotions and then be willing to discuss them with another person. You may feel sad or totally overwhelmed and sometimes those feelings can cause pain and suffering for you and those around you. Life can be stressful and very rarely do we stop and take time for ourselves to explore our thoughts and feelings.
The relationship between therapist and client is very important and an initial appointment will give you an opportunity to talk openly about your concerns and emotions and a chance to experience how we might work together. What you choose to talk about will be heard in confidence and you will be free to talk safely without fear of judgement or blame. I am professional, supportive and empathetic although I will challenge you when appropriate or necessary in order to help you gain insight and to support change.
We will decide together the right way forward and the most appropriate treatment plan for you.
Once work begins, we will meet weekly face to face for 50 minutes on the same day, at the same time and place.
You don’t have to cope on your own. My aim is to support you to understand yourself better and to help you make changes.
