About me
I’m a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist working with adults of all ages. I currently offer face-to-face sessions and, tailored to your needs and preferences, I provide:
- short-term therapy (around 12-20 sessions)
- longer-term therapy (around 18-24 months)
- open-ended therapy
How Therapy Can Help
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and you might be anxious or unsure what to expect.
Therapy can support you in various ways, including gaining a deeper understanding of who you are and why certain aspects of yourself or your relationships may feel challenging. This understanding can help you discover new ways of relating or functioning. Therapy can also assist in processing complex – and sometimes painful - emotions tied to losses, chronic worries, or other very difficult experiences you may have had.
You are invited you to explore together with me how your past experiences and relationships may be influencing your present life. Focusing on how these shape your view of yourself and others - and how they impact your life- can help you find new, more adaptive ways of being.
Central to my approach is creating a therapeutic space that is non-judgemental, safe, and supportive, and building a therapeutic relationship that is collaborative and trusting.
Psychodynamic psychotherapy is grounded in a long-standing tradition and supported by a strong scientific evidence base.
Training, qualifications & experience
I completed my therapy training at the Tavistock Clinic and have seven years’ experience working with adults with a wide range of diagnoses, emotional difficulties, and relationship challenges, both within the NHS and the charity sector.
Before that, I worked as a psychologist for nearly 20 years in various mental health settings, supporting people with complex and longstanding mental health difficulties, childhood trauma, and loss of meaning in life.
Currently, I divide my professional life between therapy, teaching and research. Alongside my private practice, I am employed as a Senior Lecturer at The Open University and as an Associate Lecturer at Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust. I also serve the Society for Psychotherapy Research.
Qualifications:
- Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust (BPC accredited)
- PhD in Clinical, Education and Health Psychology, University College London
- MSc in Theoretical Psychoanalytic Studies, University College London
- BSc (Hons) in Applied Psychology, London Metropolitan University
I am registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC, Membership no: 23766) and a member of the Tavistock Society of Psychotherapists (TSP). I adhere to the ethical frameworks and code of conducts for these organisations. I hold a current DBS certificate and attend regular supervision.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) is a professional association, representing the profession of psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
The organisation is itself made up of fourteen member organisations and BPC accredits the trainings of its member organisations. An individual who qualifies from one of these trainings is then eligible for entry into the BPC's register.
BPC registrants are governed by a code of ethics, a policy of continuing professional development, a statement on confidentiality and a complaints procedure. The BPC is a Member Society of the European Federation for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in the Public Sector (EFPP). Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Next steps
Seeking help can feel daunting and an initial phone conversation is a chance to ask any initial questions you may have and see if therapy feels right for you.
If you then decide to proceed, we would meet for initial consultations (usually 2-3 sessions). These sessions provide space for you to share - or explore - what brings you to therapy and what you are looking for. They are also an opportunity for you to get a feel for my approach and see if we can work together.
If we decide to go ahead, we will arrange regular weekly sessions. If not, I will do my best to suggest colleagues or other services you might consider.
