About me

Hi, I’m Eve. In working with you, I want you to feel listened to, valued, and safe enough to explore life’s challenges freely, confidentially, and without judgement. I offer empathy, warmth and care. I will remain curious in wondering what’s happened to you, rather than assuming that anything is wrong with you. I will work with you to develop a trusting professional relationship which supports the processing of your feelings. We work at your pace; I understand how daunting it can be when finding, and working with a counsellor.

There are no guarantees or certainties with the counselling process, it is different for everyone, but clients often share that, as a result of counselling, they achieve:

  • a better understanding of their emotions
  • clarity in understanding patterns of behaviour
  • a calmer sense of self - less frustration or anger
  • a greater ability to cope with/manage life's stressful situations
  • a capacity to be kinder to themselves - less guilt or shame.

I’m a qualified BACP registered person-centred counsellor with varied experience of working in a trauma-informed way:

  • within the teaching profession (teachers, leaders and students)
  • for a domestic violence & abuse charity
  • for a national cancer charity.

In time, following counselling, some clients choose to progress to a coaching relationship with me where they then establish plans for their future career or life goals. (I am a Chartered Member of the Institute of Personnel and Development, specializing in coaching).

What can you expect from working with me?

You will decide how many sessions you want/need. Counselling is usually weekly, and coaching is monthly, but other frequencies can be discussed.

I aim to develop a mutually respectful, equal professional relationship. I am happy to work with all client concerns; no challenge is too big or too trivial: if it matters to you, it matters! Nevertheless, I want to reassure you that if you share details of a condition or experience that I am unfamiliar with, it is my professional duty to undertake my own research and learn about it so that I can better understand you.

I offer a free, informal, no-obligation 20 minute call where we can discuss the possibility of us working together. During this call, no client question is a silly one!  My pronouns are she/her. I am insured and have an Enhanced DBS certificate.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
